TIM HENMAN MENTORS RISING STARS IN FOURTH TALENT DAY

Jaguar Academy of Sport Ambassador Tim Henman, along with tennis Rising Star Jay Clarke, led an exclusive Tennis Masterclass in Manchester for a group of Jaguar Academy Rising Stars focusing on techniques that could be transferred to other sports.

Ambassador Tim Henman said: “Training programmes and mentoring offered by the likes of the Jaguar Academy of Sport are invaluable. It helps those that want to focus on a particular sport develop to the top level, when they may otherwise find themselves as one of many playing traditional team sports at school.”

The Rising Stars also had the opportunity to experience an exclusive ‘Question and Answer’ session with Henman. The former British tennis No. 1 said: "Success is all about maximising your potential, with the right attitude you can all reach your goals. But make sure you enjoy it - it is a privilege to have a career in sport."

As well as the Tennis Masterclass, Rising Stars took part in a variety of other sessions including a sprint masterclass with British sprinter and UK 100m record-holder Montell Douglas and her coach Daniel Plummer; a pilates session with Olympian and two-time World Champion rower Toby Garbett; and a strength and power masterclass with strength and conditioning specialist Nick Grantham. Coaches at the event had the opportunity to work with David Readle, GB Cycling Performance Psychologist to discuss psychology in sport.

Part of the Talent Day saw the Rising Stars visit the home of British Cycling, the Manchester Velodrome, where they had the chance to watch Team GB cyclists train on the famous wooden track, before moving to the BMX centre for a skills orientated session focusing on key areas for all sports including balance, core stability, teamwork and reactions.

The event was the fourth Talent Day of the year since the 2013 Rising Stars were announced at Jaguar Academy of Sport Bursary Awards on 02 May in London.
